This is the NCJWBCS Archives (January 2013 - May 2021). The current site can be found here.

The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms.

A Faith in the Future. A Belief in Action.

CAN YOU SPARE A FEW HOURS ONCE A MONTH?

NCJW members staff the Gift Shop at the Jewish Home at Rockleigh every Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 3:30 pm.  Our services are needed for residents and visitors to come in, browse and pick up needed personal items, gift cards, stamps and candy.  Beautiful hand-crafted jewelry and giftware made by another of our Community Services, the Adler Aphasia Center in Maywood, are also displayed and sold there.

While they shop, the residents love schmoozing with the volunteers.  You can pick whichever Wednesday is best for you, even every other month.

We also plan three special events each year for the residents:

Hanukkah Party …. December Luncheon and Entertainment

Valentine’s Day Party …. around Feb 14th, a dessert and musical song fest

Coney Island Day …. end of May, carnival games and prizes
