NCJW PARTNERS WITH MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR ‘SAFER NJ” POSTCARD CAMPAIGN

Sarah Nanus with Safer NJ cards 2

At our May 19 General Meeting, we invited Sarah Nanus, the local group leader from the NJ Chapter of Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense in America, to speak about the need to prevent gun violence in New Jersey. A postcard campaign is underway to hand-deliver thousands of cards to our lawmakers at our State Capitol in Trenton in June, addressing Domestic Violence Bill to Keep Guns Out of the Hands of Domestic Abusers, Assembly, Bill 4218.

Our audience members enthusiastically participated by completing the cards. Sarah and her chapter were delighted with the response. In her words “We got a great bunch of cards – thank you!”

Started after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is a grassroots movement of American mothers fighting for public safety measures that respect the Second Amendment and protect people from gun violence. Since its inception, Moms Demand Action has established a chapter in every state of the country and along with Mayors Against Illegal Guns is part of Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country with more than 2.5 million members and more than 40,000 donors.

We urge you to continue to support SB 2785, SB 2786, A 4218, and A 4348 by calling or emailing your state representatives. These laws will save lives by keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous people. Please act quickly to support these common-sense gun laws.
