Children have a marvelous sense of wonder and exploration. They are interested in the natural world and enjoy asking questions about then world around them. When we nurture this sense of wonderment we can help to create scientific thinkers who explore, experiment and think logically. HIPPY develops scientific skills by engaging children in exploring with different materials, talking about their observations, and reading or listening to stories that encourage asking questions, interpreting and looking for different solutions. HIPPY has collaborated with National Council of Jewish Women Bergen County Section, New Jersey’s Liberty Science Center and STEM to enhance the science activities brought into the home with the HIPPY curriculum. HIP-PY is providing an enrichment outing to Liberty Science Center where children will have full access to the twelve exhibition galleries and to Live Science Presentations that take place during the day. It doesn’t stop there! HIPPY has declared November “HIPPY Lil Scientists” month and will also host some exciting workshops at the center conducting investigations using flashlights and light boxes AND finding fossils!
