The YCS Holley Childcare and Development Center and Kilbarchan Group Home are extremely grateful to NCJW Bergen County Section for your on-going support of the children in our care.

The funds from NCJW enrichment so generously given to the children of the Holley Center mean the difference between these children having a life of meaning or simply existing.  YCS provides the children with three meals a day and a safe, warm bed each night.   NCJW provides so much more.  Without your help, they would never know the feeling of brand new sheets and blankets.  They would never know brand new clothes of their very own—“for keeps”.  Funding received from the state - $12 a month for clothing doesn’t pay for one pair of jeans or one pair of sneakers.  Your support allows our children to participate in town sports, or intramural bowling…complete with trophies!  Your support gives every child a birthday cake on their special day.  Your support gives them a special holiday meal on days when no one should feel alone.  Your support allows our children to create memories at summer camp, where for 2 weeks you allow our “kids to be kids.”  At summer camp, the children forge relationships with children from other YCS residential programs -- children “just like them”, no one judging them… just someone new to play with.  The memories created at camp are truly priceless - yet it is only with your funding that we can make it happen.  Your support makes it possible for the children to go to the movies, or go to McDonald’s… just like the “regular kids”.  The children of YCS just want to be “regular” or “normal” in this unfamiliar world they have been thrust into. Your support allows them the chance to be just that.

In December 2008, Kilbarchan Group Home received a very generous donation of $1,000.  This gift has brought such pride and self-worth to the boys at Kilbarchan.  Your support has helped create a “real team” for the boys at Kilbarchan who will be competing in the Special Olympic Summer Games Tournament taking place at the College of New Jersey May 30-June 2.  NCJW support has given these boys new team uniforms and softball equipment.  Our children will be able to stand tall and proud at the Special Olympics because of your love and support.  Because of your generosity, the only thing the boys will have to worry about is competing -- not the stigma of being in a nationally televised event in tattered and torn old uniforms with hand-me-down equipment. The impact of your donation is immeasurable.

YCS can barely imagine how dreadfully the lives of the children at the Holley Center and Kilbarchan would be affected by the loss of the support they receive from NCJW Bergen County Section.  While YCS provides quality clinical services in a caring environment, it is volunteers such as the members of NCJW Bergen Section who provide the children with the special touches that transform their lives.  NCJW members have helped the children celebrate birthdays and holidays, attend summer camp, participate in team sports, snuggle in warm blankets, pick out their very own clothes – and so much more.

The children we serve among the most vulnerable and at-risk children in New Jersey.  YCS has been beyond fortunate that NCJW has been there to give these children the extra care and attention that helps convince them that they are indeed special, that they do deserve to have a future full of hopes and dreams, that they can be loved and learn to trust again.

Without the support of NCJW Bergen County section, our children will take such a huge step back in feeling safe, loved, and special.  We count on your support both emotionally and financially to be the family these children never had, but so richly deserve.  The members of NCJW Bergen County Section have been extremely generous with your time, your resources and your genuine concern for over 30 years.  And you should all know that for over 30 years you have truly made a difference in the lives of the children of YCS – and we could not be more grateful.
