Tuesday, September 27, 1:00PM to 3:00 PM at The Riverside Mall Conference Center (on the lower level).

As NCJW is focusing on the issue of gun violence, our first study group could not be more timely. Our first speaker will be Lois A. Schaffer, who is not only a strong advocate in this area, but has experienced first-hand the incredible hardship and pain of losing a child to gun violence.

Mrs. Schaffer is a Long Island resident who has worked closely with Congresswoman Michelle Schimel and is an active member of Reach Out America.

In 2013, Lois Schaffer published her book, The Unthinkable: Life, Loss, and a Mother’s Mission to Ban Illegal Guns.

Author and educator, Arthur Kurzwell, stated about her book, “I wish this book would be irrelevant. I wish this book would be unnecessary. But The Unthinkable is alarmingly relevant and desperately necessary.” Mrs. Shaffer will share her experiences as an advocate for gun control as well as her personal story. Her book will be available to be purchased and autographed at the event.

The fee will be $5 for members and $10 for non-members. At that time, a book will be raffled off to one person in attendance.
