GLOBAL WARMING: FACT OR FICTION?

For our second study group session of the year, more than 40 people attended an extremely thought-provoking and well-documented overview on the effects of climate change to the world environment and human health. Susan Golden, an environmentalist trained under Al Gore and the Climate Reality Project, gave a fascinating presentation on this crisis.

Ms. Golden showed the devastating effects of global warming, where a rise in temperature is leading to world-wide unstable weather conditions, an increase in hurricanes and excessive rain, a rise in water levels along shorelines, and melting Arctic conditions. In addition, the temperature rise is causing a food and water shortage, as well as an increase in certain diseases and extinction of animals. On a positive note, an awareness of this situation has given impetus to investigate and implement non-coal related fuel sources, such as solar and wind power, that are being used to address this crisis.  A very impressive discussion with a very powerful message!
