GREAT TRIP TO GREAT FALLS

On April 27th, twenty-five members of NCJW BCS enjoyed an enlightening day in and around the area of Paterson. We visited the Great Falls, a National Historic Park, where a Park Service guide conducted a tour describing the geological and historic features of this surprisingly beautiful area. We learned of the role of Alexander Hamilton in the founding of Paterson as the first planned city of industry and innovation, and its famous silk industry.

We then toured The Paterson Museum with its interesting artifacts of the area’s history and early silk industry.
We lunched in the Conservatory room at the Brownstone and enjoyed a sumptuous meal. After lunch, we visited that American Labor Museum in Haledon and learned of the labor movement’s role in the silk industry, including the role of immigrants of that era.

Everyone agreed that it was a great day.
