JOSHUA COHEN, DIRECTOR OF ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE, SPEAKS AT NCJW STUDY GROUP

ADL logoOn May 31st the NCJW Bergen County Section enjoyed a presentation by Joshua Cohen, Director of ADL’s New Jersey Regional Office. This was the fifth and last session of the study group meetings that were held this year as part of the Education/Advocacy department.

Approximately 45 people were in attendance as Mr. Cohen gave us a very thorough and interesting overview of the work done by ADL and their long history addressing anti-Semitism and injustice in this country and around the world.

His work currently includes civil rights initiatives and responses to incidents of anti-Semitism and discrimination, as well as developing programs and relationships within the community (including cross-cultural institutions) and college/school campuses.

Mr. Cohen spoke about a survey that was done by ADL showing countries with the highest statements suggesting anti-Semitic feelings to those with the lowest. He stated that the U.S. is presently in a period showing a decline in anti-Semitic feelings, but that there are still reported incidents that need to be addressed.
