NCJW BCS WOMEN ATTEND “STAND UP FOR GUN SANITY” RALLY

image003Several women from NCJW BCS together with coalition partner Bergen County Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence stormed Trenton on April 30th to attend New Jersey Senate Law and Public Safety Committee hearings. Together with other like-minded citizens they rallied in support of the State legislators’ sponsored bills, including those of Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg and Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle, both members of NCJW BCS.

These proposed bills are designed to strengthen and shore up New Jersey’s existing gun violence prevention laws. Many members of the National Rifle Association and similar groups, mostly men, were there in force, citing their Second Amendment rights. It was made apparent that New Jersey has a long way to go to reach a workable compromise that will help save the lives of victims of gun violence in Bergen County. National Council of Jewish Women, Bergen County Section will continue in support of this endeavor.
