NEWS ABOUT BERGEN VOLUNTEER MEDICAL INITIATIVE

https://www.bvmi.org/

In late September NCJW members Sue Kanrich, Peggy Kabakow and Gladys Laden visited the new site location for BVMI (Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative) on Essex Street in Hackensack.  Amanda Missey, President/CEO, met with the Council members prior to touring the facility and discussed how the improvements will benefit the patients.  It’s a beautiful facility and an amazing accomplishment. It has already experienced a 10% increase in the number of patients served and plans are underway to expand hours.

BVMI provides free primary, sick and chronic care to low-income working Bergen County residents who do not have medical insurance.  Individuals/families may earn up to 300 percent of the federal poverty level. NCJW BCS was part of the founding group in 2006 when efforts began to create this free healthcare facility for the working poor.  Doors opened in 2009, and the 8th year anniversary was celebrated in September.  BVMI continues to be one of NCJW’s outstanding community services.
