The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms.

NCJW BERGEN COUNTY SECTION CELEBRATES 96 YEARS AT ITS ANNUAL SPRING LUNCHEON

On Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at the Estate at Florentine Gardens in River Vale, the elegant event included a cocktail hour on the beautiful outdoor terrace, followed by a delicious lunch. Officers for 2019-2020 were installed; each guest received a souvenir Journal.  Click here to download and view the Journal.  Attendees participated in an exciting raffle and silent auction, packed with valuable prizes.  This year’s campaign theme “We Never Stop Running” was exemplified by stunning table centerpieces of shoes. . New Jersey Attorney General, Gurbir S. Grewal, was presented with NCJW BCS’s prestigious Hannah G. Solomon award and Gladys Laden, NCJW BCS Past President, received the accolade of the Woman of the Section award.

Presenting New Jersey State Resolutions to the honorees were New Jersey Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg and New Jersey Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri  Huttle. Also attending were the current Bergen County Prosecutor, Mark Musella, and several members and friends from our community services agencies and partners.

The 2019-2020 officers installed were:   Honorary President Bea Podorefsky; Honorary Vice-President Marcia Levy; Co-Presidents Elizabeth Halverstam, Bari-Lynne Schwartz, and Ruth Seitelman;

Vice-PresidentsPhyllis Betancourt, Joan Cooper,  Marilynn Friedman, Karen Kurland, Nanette Matlick, Elaine Meyerson, Joan Ornstein , Joan Schnuer, Virginia Wasserman and Ilene Wechter; Treasurer Elizabeth Roditi; and Recording Secretary Norma Goldsmith.
