This is the NCJWBCS Archives (January 2013 - May 2021). The current site can be found here.

The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms.

  • The Annual Spring Luncheon has been postponed for the fall.  Watch your email and our website for information.
  • Council Thrift Shop and the NCJW BCS office are closed. Our administrative director, Angelique Pinedo, is working from home and will continue to take care of our administrative needs as usual.  The office contact information remains the same: 201-385-4847, office@ncjwbcs.org .
  • We will not be publishing a May-June Bulletin, but hope to have a Newsletter towards the end of the year.
  • Watch for updates that, as soon as available, will be emailed to you and posted on our website ncjwbcs.org and social media.

So enough about what we can’t do! Let’s think about what we CAN do!

We’re all women of action and, even though we’ve been asked by the Governor to “Stay-At-home” (that has a familiar ring to it!), we’re not going to let that keep us down!  Here are some suggestions for things that you can do to enhance your life and the lives of women, children and families through activism and advocacy, together with your colleagues and friends through NCJW.

  • Sign up for NCJW Inc.’s Action Alerts at ncjwbcs.org/advocacy-education/take-action/ to learn about and participate in the important issues they’re working on.
  • To read the letter from Sheila Katz, National’s CEO, and see how you can help NOW, click on

www.ncjw.org/caring-for-our-community-at-a-distance/ .

  • We will be communicating exclusively online by email during the coronavirus outbreak. Please reach out to NCJW members who have not provided us with their email address and are not on our email list. This is a good time for them to give us their email address. They should send an email to  office@ncjwbcs.org with the words “My name is Xxxxx Xxxxxx. I am a member of NCJW BCS. Please add me to the NCJW BCS  email database.”
  • If that is not possible, you may care to offer to be their “email buddy” and call them and read out our emails to them over the phone.
  • Visit our Website and Social media ( Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)  and ‘Follow’ and ‘Like’ us. (If you don’t know how, this is a great time to learn!)
  • If you’re doing more shopping on Amazon, please sign up to make your purchases through Amazon Smile (smile.amazon.com) and make NCJW Bergen County Section your organization to support. Amazon will give us a small percentage of your purchases.
  • Arrange your NCJW Book Club (or start a new one) on ZOOM. Contact office@ncjwbcs.org for help.
