FALL MEMBERSHIP LUNCHEON & FASHION SHOW

The NCJW Bergen County Section Fall Membership Luncheon and Fashion Show was held October 24 at Temple Emeth in Teaneck. An unexpected fire drill added to the excitement of the day.

The social hall was decorated in autumn colors and beautiful handmade centerpieces which enhanced the festive mood. The program was full, starting with an abbreviated general meeting where we collected enough money to buy 100 snack packs for the Center for Food Action

Two awards were presented at the luncheon. The Emerging Leader Award was presented to Phyllis Palley for her demonstrated commitment to the Section and who is identified as a potential Section leader. A member of the Board for two years, Phyllis has done more than coordinate trips. She has put together experiences that appeal to the interests of our diverse members and is currently the chair of the Spring Luncheon and Installation. The Pacesetter Award was presented to Joan Ornstein. Joan, an active member of the Board for three years and a Co-Vice President of Fundraising, is a dynamo and has jumped right in with her energy and creativity to support our mission and activities. Her Summer Social, Fashion Trunk Show, and other creative fund raising ideas will definitely take us over the top.

The delicious and plentiful lunch was catered by Great Foods Market and Catering of Oradell. Food that was left over was taken to Eva’s Kitchen in Paterson. This community kitchen serves the hungry breakfast and lunch for up to 400 individuals 365 days a year.

Anac Fashions of Englewood dressed our models in wonderful outfits. They strutted the runway and were met with oohs and ahs. Shopping came next.  Anac provided a wonderful shopping experience with a full pop-up store. A frenzy of shopping occurred with a percentage of the sales going to NCJW BCS. Smiles were as plentiful as were all the full shopping bags. A wonderful and full day was had by all.
