NCJW BCS Members Attend Women’s Suffrage 19th Amendment Celebration at the Englewood Library

Friday August 28th, 2020 saw a celebration and reenactment in front of Englewood Library of the day when women received the right to vote.  Making noise with bells, tambourines, pots and pans and noisemakers, the way the suffragists did 100 years ago, were members of our community represented by, among others, National Council of Jewish Women Bergen County Section, Rotary Club of Englewood, Englewood Women’s Club, Englewood Historical Society, Englewood Fire Department and Englewood Police Department.

The event was organized by Charlotte Bennett Schoen of Rotary Club of Englewood and Women’s Club of Englewood and Lil Corcoran of Women’s Rights Information Center.

In addressing the crowd, Englewood Mayor Michael Wildes congratulated the suffragists for their fierce fight to gain women’s right to vote and noted accomplishments during the past 100 years and talked about the work yet to be done.
