November 14 Jewish Standard: A FILM FEST TRIBUTE AND SHORTS FOR KIDS

Ask for Jane is the story of the amazing University of Chicago coeds who began a secret referral service for women seeking safe and illegal abortions in the 60’s and 70’s, before Roe v Wade made abortions legal.

We are grateful to TIFF for dedicating the screening in memory of our late Co-President Jane Abraham.  Jane’s focus on the less fortunate was a powerful voice that shepherded NCJW BCS’ advocacy work.

Participating in the talkback will be Rachel Carey, director of the film; Heather Booth, community organizer and one of the original “Janes”; and Angela Bonavoglia, award-winning author and journalist on women’s issues.  Sandi Klein, former anchor of WINS Radio and founder of the podcast Conversations with Creative Women, will moderate the talkback.

WOW, a loose association of Wise Older Women, and Stanton Strong, a non-partisan women’s group dedicated to defending and protecting access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare, are also sponsoring this screening.
