Ninety-Nine-Year Old Volunteer Recognized By National Council of Jewish Women

National Council of Jewish Women Bergen County Section recognized one of its very special board members at its meeting on March 12. Estelle Greene, who celebrated her ninety-ninth birthday in February, was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Past President Lucy Dorée.

The Fort Lee resident has been volunteering at Council Thrift Shop in Bergenfield for 59 years. She checks inventory and is still in charge of recruiting volunteers for the shop.  Karen Kurland, Vice President of the Thrift Shop, says, “Estelle has been an invaluable volunteer for NCJW and the Council Thrift Shop for more than 50 years. We are so happy that, even now, at the age of 99, she continues to contribute so much to our organization.”

Council Thrift Shop is located at 75 South Washington Avenue, Bergenfield. Proceeds from the sale of donated new or gently-used clothing, accessories and household items go directly to support those in need in our community and advance our advocacy programs. For more information on joining Estelle as a volunteer at the Thrift Shop or on donating clothing, please call 201-385-3702 or visit www.ncjwbcs.org.
