SWIM-IN CELEBRATES 35-PLUS YEARS AT ANNUAL LUNCHEON

National Council of Jewish Women and MS Society volunteers and “swimmers” spent a delightful time together at their annual celebration and luncheon at The Graycliff in Moonachie on Sunday, May 17. SWIM-IN is a therapeutic water exercise program for people with multiple sclerosis. The program is co-sponsored by NCJW BCS and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. As Board Chairman, Michael Silverstein presented a 20-year pin to Joe Neary a swimmer who led the Swim-In Chat Room for MS swimmers in the program. Joe is actively involved with the MS Society and runs self-help groups throughout New Jersey. Michael also unveiled a plaque affixed to one of the wheel chairs used by MS swimmers while they are attending the program. The plaque was dedicated to Charles Lindenauer who recently passed away. Charles was a dedicated volunteer for many years and was an important member of the group. Charles’ wife, Priscilla Lindenauer, a NCJW member and Swim-In volunteer, attended with her family and spoke in memory of Charles. Entertainment was provided by Mark Wright whose mother was in the first MS Swim-In group and has been at the keyboard for most of the Annual Luncheons. Also volunteering their talents were Marc Klausner and Karen Sacks who sang and led a sing-a-long. Karen has been a loyal Swim-In volunteer for many years. A wonderful afternoon was enjoyed by all.
