TIMELY TOPICS AND TASTY TREATS . . . MEDIA LITERACY IN TODAY’S WORLD

On Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 2:30 pm we will be presenting an exciting program in collaboration with the Network for Responsible Public Policy (https://www.nfrpp.org/). Fake news and phony information have been issues of concern to all of us. Our speaker, Joe Amditis, the Associate Director of the Center for Cooperative Media at Montclair State University, is an expert on the topic of news literacy. He is an engaging speaker and will explain the news environment and techniques for recognizing the credible from the fake in all types of media.

Mr. Amditis is a graduate of Rutgers University and received an MA from CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. He served in the New Jersey National Guard and was deployed to Iraq from 2008 to 2009. He produces a podcast which tracks the daily shock-and-awe of national politics.

Join us for this Timely Topic, especially in the days before the midterm elections – as well as some Tasty Treats!

Admission: members $5, non-members $10, applicable toward membership if you join that day. For further information, contact Ginny Wasserman at rubigin@aol.com or the BCS office at 201-385-4847.
