TREASURES OR TRASH: THE BIG REVEAL

On Tuesday December 4, 2018, John Felz, an antiques and fine arts appraiser, was our Timely Topics and Tasty Treats presenter.  He discussed the current antiques market in terms of “what’s in and what’s out.”  Each attendee was invited to bring one item for a free appraisal.  What a surprise!  We actually brought treasures and trash.  A few items were valued in the several thousands (yes, of dollars), while most were either fakes, copies or “sorry, there’s no market for that!”  Dreams of a lost Rembrandt or an unknown Picasso flew out the window.  Yet, it was truly a fun and enlightening afternoon.
