The forecast of severe thunderstorms and flash floods didn’t dampen the enthusiasm for our highly anticipated day at YCS camp.  Happily, the weather stayed dry for our ten volunteers and the young campers of YCS. Every year the total Youth Consultation Services children’s resident population moves to camp for two weeks of fun in the sun and YCS hosts our members to join them for a day.

We played board games and joined in craft activities. We helped with glitzy “mani-peddies,” jewelry making  and sand art; and we cheered them on at jump rope and Hoola Hoop. We’re saving canoeing and zip line for next time. We shared a healthy and delicious lunch with them followed by a guided tour by Owen Broomes (pictured with our volunteers) of the magnificent lake and grounds of Camp Linwood McDonald, Sandyston, NJ.  In addition to the daily responsibility of being  Vice President of the YCS Situational Response Team, Owen  takes a special pride and pleasure in working closely with his team in the planning and execution of the annual YCS camp program.

He told us about the enormous amount of care and organization that goes into camp, which is the highlight of the year for YCS kids and how immeasurably it benefits their well-being. NCJW BCS received thanks and high accolades for the invaluable  care and support we provide.
